Malley Wrongly Acusses SOP of Non Payment - MY PROOF

March 5th, 2007

Today Keith Malley posted this at the Keith and the Girl Forums

School of Podcasting never paid its tab to our ad company. He knows he still owes our company money. What lesson number in his school does THAT cover?

NEXT!

So I wanted to set the record straight.
As I always want the details about anything podcasting, I decided to use Kiptronic from an Advertisers standpoint. As I was a KATG fan, I decided to sponsor one of their shows. As I signed up I was asked for credit card information, and I believe (this was a long time ago) I specified 2000 downloads. Something like that. Again, this was a long time ago.

I was notifed when the downloads had comepleted and that was that. Now I like Jonathon and Kiptronic so the details are none of your business. I will just say my phone has always been on, my email has always worked. I just wasn’t giving my credit card via email. The bottom line is on 2/26/07 my check to them cleared.

(From my online bank account)

Payment to Kiptronic

Now since we’re talking about being accurate. Let me clear up my mistakes from today (and yes I’ve made a few, and yes I can say “I was wrong when I said…”)

  1. Podshow has a deal with British TeleCOM (I said British Televsion in my podcast). You know the company that did £19, 514 million in the year ending March 31, 2006.
  2. I had said that other networks had done zip. That is also unfair. Kiptronic was awarded 4 milion in VC back in January. They have also partnered with IODA. They have also struck deals with Akamai Technologies. So my “buzzer” as to what other networks are doing was unfair to Jonathon and Todd. By Todd, I mean Todd Cochrane of Blurbrry. I know the blubrry network is available via NOKIA phones. I apoligize for not recognizing their hard work. Again, if you do not like Podshow, PLEASE USE THESE OTHER SERVICES. However, to report on them in a negative fashion without the courage to back it up (by reporting the news, you become the media) is irresponsible in my opinion. I guess I still don’t understand the motive behind all the intense hate. I backed mine up Keith. …
  3. I also criticized the podshow player. I believe what is happening, is that the Podshow player is copying the source mp3 file to the podshow servers (to ensure delivery I assume) and then it begins to stream it. This process takes too long (if your show is not on the podshow site already). So it does work. In some cases its slow. I do wish they had more promotion of actual podcasts “Above the fold.”

Here is another fun accusation about Podshow since this thing started:

“It’s a pyramid scheme.”
I’d love to know how this works so I could get in on it. What do I get money for someone setting up an account at podshow.com ? If this is the case, I’m pissed as I missed it.

Keith you are a funny guy. I almost had to pull over when I heard the poop in a cup story for the first time. I would say “find another way to get attention” but damnit it sure worked this time… again….

We look like Babies

February 26th, 2007

Recently Keith of Keith and the Girl stated that Podshow.com had a total of 12K downloads per day. He refused to cite a source (which is my main beef about the subject). It is my opinion that he is (once again) saying something outrageous to get ratings. It’s nothing new. Don Imus has a carreer by locking himself with Howard Stern. You hope the “top dog” talks baout you, and you bask in the free publicity.

I was talking to my girlfriend about this, so she ventured over to www.curry.com She is faily obvlivious to Podcasting. Her only exposure has been hanging around with me for four months. As she read the posts she said, “You all look like a bunch of babies. ” This was after she read my post for my podcast about the subject.

As podcasting is now the “new media,” I guess some of us will be the New York Times. Other will be the Wall Stree Journal. Some will be the comic section of their local newspaper.  Others, like Keith and the girl choose to be the National Enquirer.

The interesting thing to see will be if there is any backlash from this type of stunt. It sure didn’t hurt KATG when they read an illegally leaked podshow contract. I wonder what type of sponsor will now purchase time on their show when you never know how this “wild-card” type of personality will work.  Only time will tell.
